Hi all, so in part 1 I shared about using social media to get more traffic, here’s part 2 which covers forums.
Forums are different from social media, in social media, you can share snippets and share links to get people to find out more. In message boards, you are expected to be an active member of their community before you ask them to check out your site.
So remember the golden rule, be an active member of their community and share more and become a reputable member before sharing links or asking people to visit your site.
Lets go into some message boards that you should try in order to get more traffic to your site.
A Facebook Group is a common and popular way to find people who are interested in the niche that you’re targeting. It’s easy to search Facebook for all of the groups related to your field, and then you can pick the ones that have the most people and activity.
But do take note of their rules on posting to not get banned. You can also start a group to build your reputation.
With niche forums it’s even more important to become an active contributing member before you start asking or posting your site links to get people to visit. Start promoting yourself by becoming a contributor that people pay attention to.
Reddit is a difficult area to go into. The readers there are more discerning and so unless you are prepared to be in this for a long haul, you should not consider this message board.
If you’ve decided to go into Reddit and managed to build up a reputation of yourself, you can consider hosting a AMA where people can ask you questions in a QnA environment.
This is an interesting site, I’m considering if I should submit some of my other sites to it to promote. How it works is that if you have an interesting site or idea, you can use this to gain more eyeballs to whatever you are promoting.
Sites like inbound.org, triberr are also a way to share your content to generate new traffic. As usual you should not come across as coming there just to spam your links. Make sure that you’re sharing something worthwhile.
Yahoo, Google+ Groups
These are great for finding communities of like-minded people talking about their interests, and is a perfect place to find people who are definitely interested in the area of things you are trying to promote.
As usual, hope this helps!
